I strategize and create high-impact experiences and content that engage target audiences.

Tell me what you want to convey, and we’ll work together to craft experience goals and messages that’ll hook your audience, and then build a dream team who makes it happen! I love information and understanding how things work, and I translate that into fun, joyful experiences that have an impact.

I consult for a broad range of design firms and organizations. A few recent and standout projects are listed below.

D&H Canal Historical Society

I served as the project lead, working closely with the museum’s curator and exhibits committee, community members, to facilitate the reimagination of the D&H Canal Museum’s exhibits to be more attractive to children and families. From concept to completion, I oversaw the project, developed the content, and assembled a team of designers, artists and fabricators who created the final experience. The exhibition connects visitors to technology, social history, and the economy of the canal with exhibits that are attractive to families without feeling like a children’s museum. The museum opened in June 2022.

Discovery Place Nature

In close collaboration with exhibit lead Quatrefoil Associates, I developed content for new exhibits and media that demonstrate how human action is intertwined with nature. Exhibits throughout will feature stories of spiritual, artistic, and local connections to nature, in addition to traditional scientific information. Poetic, surprising, and humorous label copy captures the friendly image desired by this growing institution and highlights the diversity of Charlotte’s residents. Discovery Place Nature is slated to open in 2024. Email me for a writing sample from this project.

Driven to Win

As a writing consultant to media firm Blue Telescope, I developed content for 7 unique quizzes that incorporated 15 different roles from the world of race car driving into an interactive game called “Find Your Role” - now in play at The Henry Ford Museum. A key aspect of the writing approach was to decentralize the traditional stereotypes of car racing and incorporate multiple perspectives. Email me for a writing sample from this project.

Muzeiko

Designed by Lee H. Skolnick Architecture + Design Partnership, Muzeiko is the first children's museum in Eastern Europe and opened in 2015. Consulting for Skolnick as the lead Interpretive Specialist on the project, I worked in close collaboration with several Bulgarian and American specialists to bring scientific and cultural content to life for young children and their families. Recognizing that the institution would have to serve diverse audiences that had never visited a children's museum, the science content is communicated with a variety of interactives ranging from hands-on and physical challenges to digital games. Working intensively in every stage of the design process, I conducted research, developed the "voice" and experience of the exhibit, co-curated the content with Bulgarian colleagues, wrote the English label copy, and served as an integral member of the media team in creating 15 interactive games. Muzeiko opened in 2015.

Testimonials

“It has been my pleasure to work with Christina on a number of different exhibition projects, both in North America and Europe.
She brings passion and intelligence to her work informed by her museum, education, and movement practices.
Christina is also an excellent creative partner — able to offer exciting new ideas, but equally able to find thoughtful solutions to the inevitable challenges that arise during projects.”

“I have worked with Christina on a number of museum exhibition projects. She is very adept at keeping both clients and exhibit content (often voluminous amounts of content!) organized and updated throughout a project’s development. She constantly works to streamline the content management process, tracking project development with well-structured meeting records, carefully crafted outlines, exhibition scripts and other necessary project documentation. She is always a very engaging member of our exhibition design team, approaching her work with a sense of fun and inquisitive engagement. I would highly recommend her for your project.”
